It’s all about finding the calm in the chaos. — Donna Karan

So, I’ve started a blog.
Why?
First and foremost (if I’m being really honest), my husband has been harping in my ear to sit down and do this for years.
But what would I write about? Who would even care what I have to say? When would I ever have the time? How would I make it meaningful to others?
After 7 years of mulling this over, I finally conceded. I’ve finally realized that it’s my “busy” life that intrigues my friends and acquaintances.
You see, I’m a full-time elementary school teacher in my local community, plus I run my own art education company, as well as manage a successful MTM business. And, by the way, we have 4 kids under 6 years old: Beau (5), Reese (4) and our twin boys, Wyatt and Mac (2). We truly feel blessed to parent these awesome kids, but it often looks more like organized chaos with tiny toe-heads whirling in all directions.
One thing I’ve learned from experiencing the way our family grew from 2 single adults to a family of 6 in less than 5 years, is that you have to be creative. But, perhaps more importantly, you can’t pour from an empty cup. As parents, we need to hold on to the things that make us individuals and allow ourselves some indulgences.
For me, that means I often teach in heels, consequently earning a reputation for being “fancy” in my little community. As crazy as spending 12 hours a day in heels may seem to veteran teachers and moms alike, being “fancy” means I maintain a small piece of my identity while I give all of my energy to the tiny humans I teach and those who I am raising myself.
So, I often get asked, “How do you manage all of this?” My answer is simple. It takes a tiny village to run this circus. I am constantly borrowing ideas from friends and family who have been there before. My hope with this blog is that my stories can help make others’ lives a little bit more manageable.
Thus, I give you LifeByMrsD.com: a lifestyle blog for the everyday “fancy” mom. I’m sharing my challenge to raise and educate generally good humans and live a healthy-ish life, filled with artful moments and occasional flights of fancy.
Proud of you!!!
